from INSIGHT OUT by Ellen Azorin

MARCH 7

The buds the buds
the newborn buds
are popping out
all over my tree
like bumps in the road
on the way to Spring.
Tomorrow we will have snow,
for that is the way of New York weather.
But I have seen the buds
and even though the snow
may give them one more huff and a fluff
I know that soon
I will renew my friendship
with the air and
there, for me,
is the beauty and hope
of the passing years.
